IS IT SAFE TO HANDLE PARCELS/MAILS DURING COVID19? THE RISK IS NEVER 0%
While there is not enough evidence at the moment to determine if COVID19 can be contaminated through parcels and deliveries. What we do know that SARS-CoV-2 was more stable on plastic and stainless steel than on copper and cardboard, and the viable virus was detected up to 72 hours after application to these surfaces.

There is a possibility of your parcel to be contaminated along the way, but, the infection risk is very low because, as the New England Journal of Medicine study found, the survival time on cardboard is thought to be around one day.
Unlike plastic or glass surface area that is somewhat “waterproof” and can hold water droplets for a longer period, most cardboard parcels would absorb the droplet and it may not be so easily picked up when you touch the package.
The survival time on cardboard is thought to be one day. So some people are leaving out their deliveries and mails for at least 24hours before touching them if it is not something to be open urgently.
Essentially, we should always be cleaning with alcohol wipes on things that we often touch or we do not know where it has been like your phones and parcels. Clean them regularly with alcohol wipes (which need to be around 70% alcohol). You may use baby wipes however, most baby wipes only have a low percentage of alcohol so are less effective
Though most deliveries companies have strict rules to follow due to covid19, most of them do not require you to touch a device for signature or handling of the package. Most delivery companies have adopted the drop and go system to decrease the risk of spread.
That being said, you should still consider wiping down a package before opening it and washing your hands well after disposing of the packaging.
What to carry in your bag if you need to head out in this time of the pandemic

The government has encouraged us to stay home as much as possible, but if you need to head out for work or to run essential errands; Here are some things you should have in your bag

- Bottled Water : It is important to keep healthy regardless the virus outbreak. Your body will need to be hydrated so that you won’t fall sick easily. You need at least 2 litres of water a day. So keep one handy in your bag
- Hand Sanitiser: We are advised to not touch our face when we are out until we have cleaned them. It is very handy to carry this in your bag to clean your hand and public surface areas
- Mask : Wearing a mask in a crowded area ensures extra protection to prevent other people’s water droplets such as coughs and sneezes from your face.
- Gloves: Wearing gloves is also an extra precaution. Use disposable gloves when you know you will be touching or in contact with other unknown objects frequently but make sure to get rid of it immediately
- Tissue/ Wet wipes : This is helpful when cleaning surface areas in public places
- Vitamin C : This is also the time to ensure your body is getting all the vitamins it needs to maintain a strong immune system
Productive things to do at home during Lockdown
Some people fear of boredom during the lockdown that Singapore just implemented. Take this time to relax, meditate. Take this time to reconnect with family members. Here is some list of things to do to make the most of it.

Read. Have people forgotten about books? When is the last time you actually have this luxury to just sit and read with a nice cup of coffee?
If you don’t have any books to read and you can’t go to the book store, there are so many online books you can download or even audiobooks.
Reading is actually relaxing and a habit of most successful people. Bill Gate reads 50 books a year!
Games. Yes, online games. Remember how fun it was. Remember how annoying it is to stop playing all because you have lunch plans outside, or because you need to run for an appointment. Now you have the luxury of time and being indoors. Play NEW games and support local game developers
Free online course. There is an abundance of educational resources on the web readily available for anyone who wants to learn. You can go to websites that offer free courses like Udemy, Coursera, Future. So many skills you can learn to master
Homecook Meal. Learn new recipes
You don’t always have to rely on hawker centres and take out meals. Give your mum a break, or whoever does the cooking by shifting meal routines. Take turns cooking a meal. Improvise on your cooking skills by learning new recipes online. There are youtube tutorial videos for cooking just about ANYTHING
Indoor Workout/Yoga Don’t give yourself any more excuses. You can still be healthy and fit indoors. You don’t have to go to the gym or run to the beach. You can do all these at home.
Home Movie
Download a movie online or simply Netflix. Set a time for everyone to watch and enjoy together. You can even prepare popcorns and bites just to make it extra enjoyable
We hope that we have inspired you to do a thing or two from the list we suggested. Let us know which one you are enjoying most.

All you need to know about CoVID-19
Myths about Covid-19 as adviced by WHO

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that is highly contagious and has affected the whole world. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness. However, it can be deadly for older people or people with existing health diseases/chronic diseases
As there is currently no cure for Covid19, the best prevention method is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads.
Hygiene is an important precautionary method. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently and not touching your face.
Stay home and self quarantined. If there is no emergency to be outside, remain indoors as much as possible. If you need to be outside, please practise self-distancing. Self-distancing means being at least 1.5m – 2m away from someone else.

#1 Cold weather and snow CANNOT kill the new coronavirus.
There is no reason to believe that cold weather can kill new coronavirus or other diseases.
#2 The new coronavirus CANNOT be transmitted through mosquito bites.
To date, there has been no information nor evidence to suggest that the new coronavirus could be transmitted by mosquitoes. The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose.
#3 Hand dryers are not effective in killing the 2019-nCoV.
To protect yourself against the new coronavirus, you should frequently clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
#4 ultraviolet disinfection lamp cannot kill the new coronavirus
UV lamps should not be used to sterilize hands or other areas of skin as UV radiation can cause skin irritation.
#5 Spraying alcohol/chlorine all over your body cannot kill the new coronavirus
No, it won’t kill viruses that have already entered your body. Spraying such substances can be harmful to clothes or mucous membranes (i.e. eyes, mouth). Be aware that both alcohol and chlorine can be useful to disinfect surfaces, but they need to be used under appropriate recommendations.
#6 regularly rinsing your nose with saline cannot help prevent infection with the new coronavirus
#7 Eating garlic cannot help prevent infection with the new coronavirus
Garlic is a healthy food that may have some antimicrobial properties. However, there is no evidence from the current outbreak that eating garlic has protected people from the new coronavirus.
#8 Antibiotics are not effective in preventing and treating the new coronavirus
No, antibiotics do not work against viruses, only bacteria.
The new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus and, therefore, antibiotics should not be used as a means of prevention or treatment.
However, if you are hospitalized for the 2019-nCoV, you may receive antibiotics because bacterial co-infection is possible.

Community effort can help us slow the spread of COVID-19

The team at MyCLNQ has been sharing news and updates regarding Covid19. We believe that every company should play a part in defending the country against this virus.
As Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore’s Ambassador to China, quoted
“We have set up multiple lines of defence to reduce the risk of imported cases and local community transmission, and we have been stepping up our efforts at each line of defence.”
One of the defence is EDUCATING the public. To reduce community spread, one of Singapore’s successful defence measure is public education messages. These were focused on personal hygiene and seeking early medical care and self-isolation when having respiratory symptoms.

As a Healthcare App, we want to be part of this defence. MyCLNQ has been sharing tips and updates regarding the COVID-19. Follow us now

Another community contribution to the #SGUnited movement
The team at MyCLNQ spent the last 2 weekends packing and distributing masks. Last weekend, we distributed to another 200 families in Yishun. This brings in a total of more than 400 families that have benefitted from our community outreach.

As we continue to battle COVID19, it is important for corporates to help the community. It is really heartwarming to see so many companies, schools and organisations out there who have all come together to fight against COVID19 together.
When each of us offer a small kindness to a neighbor, it can become a very large blessing to the whole community
Giving out Free Masks in Tampines and SengKang to help fight against COVID-19
More than 200 families in Sengkang and Tampines received MyCLNQ Kit which included 2 free face masks for each household.
The team at MyCLNQ prepared these kits over the weekend and the distribution began on Sunday with the whole team facilitating the outreach.

Among the first to receive the masks were the families living in Sengkang Compassvale, They also listened to a quick presentation on how they can manage their entire family’s healthcare needs.

As the number of corona virus, COVID-19, increases, it is important for Singaporeans to maintain good hygiene and wear masks to protect themselves.
The team at MyCLNQ is doing this community initiative as part of our company’s values to improve the healthcare needs of Singaporeans
